Fees
Obtaining legal counsel at the outset of a business transaction can avoid legal disputes down the road. However, many people avoid seeking such counsel due to the expense involved. As an attorney who runs my own business, I understand the financial concerns faced by individuals and small and startup companies. In appropriate cases, The Law Office of Nathan C. Rogers will consider fee arrangements other than the typically hourly fee structure. These alternative fee arrangements may include:
Flat Fees
Rather than charging for time by the hour, for some transactions a flat fee may be appropriate, allowing you to budget your legal expenses more concretely.
Fee Caps
In situations where I can reasonably estimate the amount of time a legal matter will take, I may agree to an hourly billing structure with a "not to exceed" amount, provided the assumptions on which I base the estimate hold true.
Contingency Fees
If you are the plaintiff in a lawsuit, and you have a strong chance of prevailing and a viable source of monetary recovery from the defendant, I may be able to handle your case on a contingency fee basis. Other than out-of-pocket costs incurred during the litigation, you would not pay any legal fees unless you prevail.
Hybrid Fees
A hybrid fee structure is a mix of hourly billing and contingency. Under this arrangement, I would charge a lower hourly rate than I would typically bill in exchange for a percentage of your recovery (but at a lower percentage than if it were a straight contingency case).
The appropriate fee arrangement for your particular case will be discussed during your initial consultation.
